Although mindfulness as a concept has been around for thousands of years, its application in Western psychology is relatively recent.
This seminar will help you discover an understanding of how thoughts and feelings influence our behaviour .
Our worries about the future and past can negatively influence our behaviour in the present. Mindfulness potentially counters this process by teaching us to focus on the current moment when applicable.
Non-judgment begins with awareness of your own thoughts and stopping yourself from labelling any of them as good or bad. Accept your thoughts and feelings as natural and allow them to come and go.
Non-reacting is the skill to allow your thoughts and feelings to be without resorting to the need to behave accordingly. Pause for a moment to reflect on your inner experience. Don’t act hastily and emotionally.
Holding on to things disempowers you. Letting go resumes the natural order, which relieves the stress and burden on you to feel responsible for everything, even those things that you cannot change.
Be open and willing to see things as they really are. Accept that everything is not under your control or responsibility. Be prepared to make the best with what is available to you and that growing and learning is a perpetual process.
